Poseidon is the greek olympian God of earthquakes and the sea. He is the son of Cronos ( the leader of the titans) and Rhea. He is the brother of Zeus, Hades, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia. Poseidon has a three pronged spear called a trident which he uses to control the sea.
Poseidon was the god of the sea, and, as "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes in Greek mythology. The name of the sea-god Nethuns in Etruscan was adopted in Latin for Neptune in Roman mythology: both were sea gods analogous to Poseidon
Poseidon was the husband of Amphritite who was the daughter of Nereus and Doris. Therefore she is one of the nereids, water spirit daughters of Nereus and Doris. Poseidon is the father of Triton messenger of the sea. He is also the father of Polyphemus, the cyclops rival of Ulysses, Odysseus.

Poseidon is an extremely powerful god rivaled only by his brothers Zeus and Hades, and surpassed only by Typhon. As the personification of the sea, he has omnipotent control over the ocean. He is capable of summoning and controlling fierce storms over the water
